Childhood obesity is a growing epidemic. Quality after-school programs have been shown to reduce childhood obesity and increase physical activity among participants. They can provide physical activity and nutrition education, healthy snacks and a safe place to play and socialize in the hours after school.

Local School Wellness Policies
One section of the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004 requires that all school districts participating in the National School Lunch Program have local wellness policies set by July 1, 2006. This site provides tools to help schools create their own wellness policy.

Jump Into Food and Fitness
