In- Person Workshops & Training
Our in-person training sessions are designed to provide comprehensive, full-day learning experiences across various regions in Michigan, with a focus on equity in access. We strive to hold these trainings in different locations to ensure that all individuals have the opportunity to participate, regardless of their background. Led by industry experts, these workshops cater to individuals at all experience levels, from newcomers to seasoned professionals in the Out-of-School Time (OST) sector. Each session is offered free of charge and provides an excellent opportunity to deepen your knowledge and skills. Participants will also have the chance to earn MiRegistry credit, enhancing their professional development. Michigan Afterschool Partnership will be hosting two Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainings that will be facilitated by Wayne State University College of Nursing in partnership with C2 Pipeline
Each training will run from 9am to 4pm with 30 minutes for lunch.

Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children and adolescents ages 12-18.
What Mental Health First Aid Covers:
Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in this age group, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD)
Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges
How to interact with a child or adolescent in crisis
How to connect the youth with help
Expanded content on trauma, substance use, self-care and the impact of social media and bullying
Upon completing the training and passing the online assessment, you will receive a certificate valid for 3 years. This certificate recognizes your achievements and the skills you've gained. Keep it handy as a valuable addition to your professional credentials!
